Snyder Family Roots
MDS Energy Development president Michael D. Snyder is a member of the Snyder family, which operates a successful and highly diversified family office with significant holdings in energy, banking, and mining.
The Snyder family has been in business since 1941 and is one of the largest independent producers of natural gas in Pennsylvania. MDS joint ventures with the Snyder Family on its investment partnerships.
Real Drilling Experience
MDS Energy Development is vertically integrated, meaning we have our own crews and equipment to complete much of the drilling process in house. This allows for significant operational flexibility and a more efficient operation.
When we’re not drilling our own wells, we’re drilling wells for the two largest natural gas drilling companies in North America. Our rigs have drilled over 1,000 wells since 2007.
The Hometown Advantage
The Snyder’s large, contiguous acreage position in the heart of the Marcellus and Utica natural gas development areas allow for efficient planning, which lets us develop our gas at a lower cost than many larger producers.
- MDS/Snyder can pump water directly from the Allegheny River to most of our well pads, which saves cost
- Multiple large capacity interstate pipelines NiSource and Dominion bisect our acreage position
- We have symbiotic relationships with multiple other operators who will take our wastewater for free at their sites (which they reuse). This creates significant cost savings on water treatment fees
- Snyder’s have over 650 miles of existing pipeline infrastructure and other equipment
